The Big Plan

Marvelous Mercury!

Sam and Henry sat together and dreamed about an adventure in space. They talked about visiting the planet Mercury. Sam asked if they should really go on a trip. Henry agreed and said, 'Wow, Max! Should we take a trip to Mercury?'
1
The boys hurried to their shining spaceship. They made sure everything was ready for take off. Both of them felt excited and brave. They waved goodbye as the spaceship blasted off into the sky.
2
The spaceship flew fast toward Mercury. Sam explained that Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. Henry listened with wide eyes as they got closer. They marveled at their view from the spaceship window.
3
When they landed, Sam and Henry felt the heat from the day. Sam said, 'It is super hot here during the day.' Henry added that during the night it gets very cold. They learned that Mercury can be very warm and very chilly.
4
The boys decided to put on their special space suits. The suits helped them stay cool in the heat and warm in the cold. They zipped up carefully and checked each button. Their suits made them feel ready for a big adventure.
5
Sam and Henry stepped onto Mercury's rocky surface. They walked slowly and looked around with wonder. The ground was full of craters and rocks. They pretended they were great explorers discovering a new world.
6
While exploring, the boys met a small, friendly robot. The robot introduced itself as Mercury's Messenger. It said it was there to collect fun facts about the planet. Sam and Henry smiled and said, 'Hi there!'
7
Mercury's Messenger told them that Mercury does not have an atmosphere like Earth. The robot said the surface is covered with many craters. It explained that there is no wind and the sky is always black. The boys listened carefully and learned many new facts.
8
The Messenger explained that one day on Mercury lasts as long as 59 Earth days. It also said that Mercury orbits the Sun in just 88 Earth days. The boys found it surprising that a year on Mercury is very short. They marveled at how different time can be on another planet.
9
Sam and Henry talked about all the things they had seen and learned. They felt proud to have visited such a unique planet. Both agreed that Mercury was fun but not a place to live. Their hearts were full of joy and wonder from their time there.
10
It was time to return home after an exciting day. The boys climbed back into their spaceship with happy memories. They waved goodbye to Mercury as the spaceship lifted off. The stars twinkled around them as they made their journey back to Earth.
11
